TaxPicks is an independent directory of US tax practices: preparation offices, CPA firms, enrolled agents, tax attorneys, resolution specialists and bookkeepers, organised by state and city, alongside free calculators and guides written in plain English.
Where the listings come from
Business records are derived from Overture Maps open data: names, addresses, phone numbers, websites and coordinates. We filter that data to tax and accounting practices, remove the false positives that keyword matching produces, and sort each surviving record into a practice type based on its name and category.
The source data carries no hours, no ratings and no service lists, so we do not invent them. Where a page describes what a kind of practice typically handles, it says so explicitly and presents it as general information about that category, not as a verified fact about that firm. Branch offices of national chains are listed on their city page but do not get an individual page, because the content would be identical across thousands of locations.
What we do not do
- We do not sell leads, and no business pays to be listed or to rank higher. Ordering is by practice type and then alphabetical.
- We do not collect your tax information. The calculators run entirely in your browser and nothing you type is transmitted or stored on a server.
- We do not prepare returns, represent taxpayers, or give advice on anyone's individual situation.
- We do not publish reviews or ratings we cannot substantiate.
How the site pays for itself
TaxPicks carries advertising, and some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission when a visitor signs up or buys through them, at no additional cost to the visitor. Advertising units are labelled as such wherever they appear. Advertising has no influence on which businesses are listed, how they are described, or the order they appear in. Our advertising disclosure explains this in full.
Accuracy and corrections
Open map data goes stale: practices close, move, merge and change phone numbers, and tax offices in particular open and close seasonally. Every listing carries a correction link, and we would rather hear about a wrong entry than leave it up. Write to hello@taxpicks.com with the listing name and what is wrong.
Tax figures used in the calculators come from published IRS revenue procedures and are cited on each tool page. Tax law changes, sometimes retroactively, and we update as we notice. Check anything consequential against the IRS or your state tax agency, and confirm a preparer's credentials directly with the issuing body before you hire.
Not professional advice
Nothing on taxpicks.com is tax, legal, accounting or financial advice, and reading it creates no professional relationship. The calculators produce estimates for planning, not prepared returns. For advice about your own circumstances, hire a qualified professional who can look at your documents.
