Advertising
TaxPicks carries paid advertising. Advertising units are labelled wherever they appear, using a visible label such as “Recommended Sponsor” or “Advertisement”, and their links are marked with the sponsored attribute that search engines use to identify commercial links.
Some advertising links are affiliate links. If you follow one and then buy a product or sign up for a service, we may receive a commission from the advertiser. The price you pay is the same either way. We may not always be aware of, or agree with, everything an advertiser says on its own website, so read their terms before buying.
What advertising does not buy
- No paid listings. No business in the directory has paid to appear, to be featured, or to rank higher. Listings are derived from open map data and ordered by practice type and then alphabetically.
- No paid removals. A business cannot pay to have a competitor removed, or to have its own entry edited beyond a factual correction.
- No influence over the guides. Articles cite primary sources, and an advertiser has no say over what they say.
Outbound links in the guides
The guides link out to government agencies, universities and non-commercial organisations as citations. Those links are editorial references, we receive nothing for them, and they are deliberately marked differently from advertising links so the distinction is visible in the page source as well as on the page.
Click tracking
Advertising links on this site pass through a redirect on our own domain rather than linking straight out. This exists so that automated crawlers and browser prefetching do not register as clicks, which would distort an advertiser's reporting. It does not track you, it sets no cookie of ours, and it does not change where you end up.
